It’s strange for me to get texts after 10 PM on a school night, but the buzzing phone at midnight wakes me from my semi-dozing state. I was just about to drift off when I’m lurched back into lucidity, my hand instinctively grabbing my phone from the nightstand. I remember the bed is empty, and Aaron is at work. I need to make sure it’s not him.

It’s not Aaron, but rather Izzy, who says: We need to talk. Can you come to my house tomorrow after work? I notice Tara is copied on the message too.

Huh. My heart flutters with a funny feeling I can’t quite explain, but I nevertheless reply affirmatively. And then my mind mulls over all the possible explanations for such a cryptic text, and I’m awake for at least another hour.
